Grant Ward enjoyed a winning start to life on loan at Coventry City at the weekend, helping the Sky Blues claim a 3-2 win at Chesterfield.

The midfielder linked up with the League One side on Friday and went straight into the starting line-up for their trip to the Proact Stadium, playing the full 90 minutes and providing the assist for his side’s second goal.

Elsewhere, Shaq Coulthirst made his debut for League Two club York City after joining them at the end of last week, the forward going on as a 56th-minute substitute for the Minstermen in their goalless home draw with Carlisle United.

Also in League Two, Nathan Oduwa stepped off the bench for Luton Town four minutes after the hour mark as they tried – ultimately in vain – to peg back a 2-0 deficit at Portsmouth, while defender Dominic Ball was an unused substitute for Cambridge United in their 1-1 home draw with Stevenage.

In the Championship, Grant Hall completed 90 minutes for Blackpool as they crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Bournemouth – the defender getting forward in the closing stages in search of a consolation but firing over the bar – while Alex Pritchard played the full match for Brentford as they lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff City. In addition, goalkeeper Jordan Archer was on the bench for Millwall in their 2-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers.

In the Premier League, Aaron Lennon was part of the Everton side that enjoyed a 3-0 home victory over Newcastle United. The winger won the penalty from which the Toffees scored their second goal before he was withdrawn with five minutes remaining.

In Germany, Lewis Holtby returned to action for Hamburg, the midfielder going on as a substitute with 10 minutes remaining as his side suffered a 3-0 Bundesliga defeat at Hoffenheim.

This evening (Monday, March 16), Tom Carroll will be hoping for some game time with Swansea City as they take on Liverpool at the Liberty Stadium.

Meanwhile, young winger Kenny McEvoy has returned from his loan spell with League One side Colchester United.
