Loan watch - Big win for Yago

Mon 03 March 2014, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Yago Falque’s contribution to Rayo Vallecano’s win against Valencia in La Liga was the highlight of a frustrating weekend for our loanees.

Yago played the full 90 minutes in Spain, as Rayo claimed a 1-0 win over their mid-table visitors to scoop three precious points in their battle to avoid the drop.

It was a more disappointing weekend for our lads in the English top flight, however, with Jake Livermore and Lewis Holtby suffering respective defeats with Hull City and Fulham.

Jake played just over an hour as Hull slumped to a 4-1 reverse against Newcastle United, while Lewis was a second half substitute in Fulham’s 3-1 loss against Chelsea.

In the Championship, Queens Park Rangers introduced Tom Carroll off the bench for the closing nine minutes of their 1-1 draw against Leeds United, while Ryan Fredericks played the full game for Millwall as they lost 1-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bongani Khumalo’s Doncaster Rovers, meanwhile, crashed to a 5-0 defeat at Bournemouth.

Elsewhere, young goalkeeper Luke McGee tasted his first defeat with Ryman League Division One North side Harlow Town, having joined the Essex side on work experience last week.

A late strike gave Dereham Town a 2-1 win on Saturday, but it was a better story for the stopper – who has made 16 Barclays Under-18 Premier League appearances for us this season, plus two in the FA Youth Cup – on his debut last Tuesday night as the Hawks beat Burnham Ramblers 5-2.

Cristian Ceballos will be hoping to see some game time in Portugal tonight, as his FC Arouca side take on Academica.
