Loan watch - Alex key to Bees' win

Mon 22 December 2014, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Alex Pritchard scored one and set up two as Brentford ran out 3-2 winners at Cardiff City in the Championship on Saturday.

Our on-loan midfielder finished off a swift break with a low shot from the edge of the box to put the Bees in front 11 minutes in, before setting up both Andre Gray and Jota Peleteiro to extend the visitors’ lead before the interval.

The hosts reduced the arrears with two goals in the second half, but the Bees had done enough to secure the points. They’re currently two points behind leaders Bournemouth.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Milos Veljkovic made his second appearance for Middlesbrough as he stepped off the bench just after the hour mark with his side 2-0 down at Ipswich Town. There was to be no further score, however.

Tom Carroll was back in Swansea City’s starting line-up for their trip to Hull City in the Premier League, the midfielder playing 57 minutes before being withdrawn, while forward Shaq Coulthirst was an unused substitute for Southend United in their goalless League Two stalemate at home to Burton Albion.

On the continent, Tomislav Gomelt went on as a 63rd minute substitute for Italian side Bari as they made it back-to-back wins in Serie B with a 1-0 home triumph over Latina, while Lewis Holtby completed the full 90 minutes for Hamburg in their 0-0 draw at his former club Schalke in the German Bundesliga.
