Tom Carroll made his Premier League bow for Swansea City on a busy weekend for our on-loan players.
The midfielder, who started for the Swans in their midweek Capital One Cup win against Rotherham, replaced Jonjo Shelvey with six minutes remaining of the club’s 3-0 home win against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Grant Ward was also on a winning team over the weekend. He returned to Chicago Fire’s starting line-up for their 1-0 home victory over FC Dallas in the MLS, the midfielder being withdrawn shortly after the hour mark.
In the Championship, Alex Pritchard played 90 minutes for Brentford in their 2-0 win at Rotherham but there was no such joy for Grant Hall, whose Birmingham City side suffered a 4-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic. Grant played the full game.
Elsewhere, Shaq Coulthirst went on as a 64th minute substitute for Southend United as the Shrimpers slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle in League Two.
Kenny McEvoy and Jordan Archer were unused substitutes for Peterborough United and Northampton Town in respective victories against Colchester United and Exeter City.
