Kenny McEvoy’s York City debut ended in defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
Having linked up with the Minstermen last week, the on-loan winger went straight into their starting line-up and played 90 minutes as they hosted Stanley in League Two.
But it was a day to forget for Kenny and his new team-mates as they lost 5-1, leaving them in the relegation zone, one point from safety.
Young defender Christian Maghoma also experienced his first matchday with Yeovil Town in the same division, but he remained an unused substitute as his side lost 2-0 at Northampton Town.
There was better news for Connor Ogilvie and Stevenage, though, as the Hertfordshire side secured a 4-3 home win over Morecambe with Connor again ever-present at left-back.
In the Championship, midfielder Grant Ward played 90 minutes for Rotherham United as they triumphed 3-0 at home to Bristol City while, in Premier League action, DeAndre Yedlin did likewise for Sunderland in their 2-0 home win over Stoke City.
Elsewhere, Dominic Ball and Nathan Oduwa were unused substitutes for Rangers as they breezed past St Mirren 4-0 in their Petrofac Training Cup semi-final.
