Loan watch

Adam Smith played his part in one of the shocks of the night in the Carling Cup.

Adam Smith played his part in one of the shocks of the night in the Carling Cup.

The full-back played the full 90 minutes as MK Dons of League One hammered Premier League Norwich City 4-0 in the second round at Carrow Road.

In only his third start for MK, Adam tested home keeper Declan Rudd and set-up a chance for Dean Bowditch as his side ran out comfortable winners.

It wasn't such good news elsewhere for our players on loan.

Kyle Naughton, on loan at Norwich, was rested for the MK match while Steven Caulker was on the bench as another Premier League side went crashing out, this time Swansea City at League Two Shrewsbury Town.

Bongani Khulamo played 90 minutes as Championship side Reading lost out 2-1 at League One Charlton.

Nathan Byrne (pictured above) also played a full shift for Bournemouth as Premier League West Brom run out 4-1 winners at Dean Court.

There was also good news for young striker Kudus Oyenuga, who made his debut for Bury and his first appearance in British professional football - having played on loan in Finland - as the Shakers pushed Leicester City all the way before losing out 4-2.

Weekend action

Steven Caulker helped Swansea to their first point in the Premier League and a clean sheet against Wigan on Saturday. Staying in the Premier League, Kyle Naughton played a full shift as Norwich City conceded a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Stoke.

In the Championship, Bongani Khumalo played 90 minutes as Reading suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Bristol City - missing two penalties along the way.

In League One, Nathan Byrne unfortunately scored an own goal as Bournemouth lost out to Carlisle. Jon Obika helped Yeovil to a 1-1 draw at Walsall and Adam Smith made his home debut as MK Dons hammered Chesterfield 6-2 at Stadium MK. All three played 90 minutes.

Kudus Oyenuga was an unused substitute as Bury beat Wycombe 2-0 and that was the case for Oscar Jansson for Bradford in their 1-0 home defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge in League Two.
