Liverpool vs Spurs - Dawson determined
28 March 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Michael Dawson has experienced ups and downs at Anfield during his nine years at Spurs – but feels we travel to Merseyside with confidence after last weekend's win against Southampton.
The skipper made his Spurs debut at Anfield back in April, 2005, a 2-2 draw that included Erik Edman’s blast from 35 yards into top corner at the Kop end.
We led twice that day and that has been a theme in our recent history at Anfield – we did the same before a last-minute Fernando Torres equaliser in 2007 and led 2-0 before Liverpool’s comeback for 3-2 last season.
This time around, we find a Reds team challenging for the Premier League title and in fine form – they’ve won 11 of their last 12 at home.
“Liverpool are in a rich vein of form and they are flying at home,” said Michael.
“But we go there full of confidence on the back of the Southampton game and a great performance in the second half.
“Anfield is a fantastic place to play, full of tradition. I’ve good memories there.
“I made my debut at Anfield and been involved in some great matches, and picked up some good results as well.”
Michael is determined to put right our last two encounters – last season’s 3-2 reverse at Anfield and our 5-0 loss at the Lane in December.
“Last season was tough, we were in cruise control at 2-0 but gave a goal away and the momentum changed completely,” he reflected.
“The game at the Lane earlier in the season was obviously a huge disappointment. They’ve performed well since then and we know it will be tough, but we’re determined to bring back a positive result.”
