Liverpool U21s v Spurs - Ugo's preview
25 January 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Ugo Ehiogu has called for our Under-21s to show character against what he expects to be a strong Liverpool side at Chester tonight (Monday, January 25).
We take to the field in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League against the Reds at 7.30pm, looking to build on last week’s 2-2 home draw with Manchester City.
Under-21s Coach Ugo is set to make a couple of changes to the side that faced City and he wants those who are given the nod to express themselves against a Liverpool team that could potentially feature some of the young players who represented the Anfield club in the FA Cup earlier this month.
“There will be some changes to the team that played last week but I’d hope that those who come in take control of the football and stamp their personality on the game,” he said.
“It will be difficult – you always know Liverpool are going to try to dominate. Recently a lot of their boys who have been out on loan have come back so we expect them to be quite strong and quite experienced in that regard, but it’s up to our boys – including those who have not had as many minutes lately – to compete and enjoy the challenge.
“It’s important that, within the confines of the team, the boys show that they deserve to stay in the line-up. The players have got to show an extent of personality and they’ve got an opportunity to do that tonight.”
Kick-off at Chester’s Deva Stadium is at 7.30pm. Follow us on Twitter @SpursOfficial for live updates from the game.
