Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton reports that anticipation levels are quickly rising among the lads as the prospect of Liverpool at home on day one looms large.
The first Premiership game of the new season is at our place and, for the winners, top spot beckons for a couple of hours at least.
Liverpool will arrive with a spring in their step, having overcome the first hurdle in Champions League qualification against FC Graz in Austria on Tuesday evening with a two-goal victory.
Our squad are desperate to get the campaign underway after a busy preparation period and Chris says the lads are buzzing as the days tick away to the big kick-off.
"They certainly are," said the assistant coach. "One because it is the first game of the season and everyone wants to get off to a good start. Secondly, when you get the top opposition down at White Hart Lane it is always a very special occasion.
"Liverpool are a good side with a new manager and some fantastic players - it will be a fabulous test for us."
Like ourselves, Liverpool have gone through a period of change over the summer months with new boss Rafa Benitez coming in from Valencia, along with the introduction of £14m striker Djibril Cisse from Auxerre. Chris is well aware of both personalities and suspects both are well equipped to make a big impact in English football.
"Cisse I have seen play quite a few times for Auxerre and I personally feel he will be a success here," added Chris. "He has wonderful attributes, very big, strong and I think his game will suit English football.
"He is very quick and a good athlete. Possibly he will not be as nimble as Michael Owen is as he is a big lad. He is quick over a longer distance running onto the ball and has a good record for goals at club level.
"I can see him being a good player for Liverpool.
"Benitez had a wonderful record in Spain and, from watching him on television, he seems to have fallen in his new job very comfortably. His teams have always been good teams and I think that will continue."
