Little joy for debut boy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Despite the disappointment of the result at Chelsea on Saturday, the game did mark the first action in Spurs colours for loan signing Paul Konchesky.

The left-sided defender replaced Mauricio Taricco on 67 minutes and, from his watching position and involvement, he feels that the team's efforts did not merit a 4-2 scoreline.

"It's good, I enjoyed every minute of it and I think we deserved a bit better than the 4-2 result," he commented afterwards. "In the first half I thought we did really well and, like I say, deserved a better outcome."

Paul suspects that the key to achieving a positive result would have been protecting the lead - provided by Fredi Kanoute - until the break.

"After the goal I know they had a few chances, but we blocked them all and defended well. Then they got a goal which was not a good one from our point of view and the one straight afterwards killed us.

"I think if we could have hung on until half-time at 1-0 we would have had a good chance in the second half."

The second half, of course, saw Paul make his entrance and he felt that when Fredi scored his second to make it 3-2 there was a chance to take some reward from the game.

"I did, there were balls going into the box and the way Fredi was playing with Bobby anything could have happened. The trouble is, we were always going to go for it and try and put them under pressure - and it allowed them to go up the other end and score."

Paul is now hoping to get the opportunity to feature against Southampton at the Lane on Saturday and says the game cannot come quickly enough.

"I'd like to think so and I'd love to do well for Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Coming off the back of that, I can't wait until next Saturday now," he said, before adding that he has settled quickly in his short time with the team following international duty.

"I trained Thursday with the boys and Friday morning. They've made me feel really welcome and are a great bunch of lads, who have made it really easy for me to settle in."
