Lewis Holtby hopes we can put a run together in the Premier League after our opening day triumph at Upton Park.
Eric Dier’s 93rd minute strike sealed a 1-0 victory over West Ham United in Mauricio Pochettino’s first competitive game in charge after both sides had earlier been reduced to 10 men.
With back-to-back home games next up, starting with the visit of Queens Park Rangers to White Hart Lane on Sunday, midfielder Lewis wants to see us accumulate a good number of points to give ourselves an early platform on which to build.
“It was massive for us at West Ham, to win 1-0,” declared Lewis, who went on alongside Andros Townsend as part of a double substitution just after the hour mark in Saturday’s game.
“Eric made a brilliant run and scored a brilliant goal and it was a fantastic win for the team, especially as it was a derby and the first game.
“We’re trying to get momentum going. We’ve got QPR next and to get another three points would be massive – then we’ve got the big clash against Liverpool.
“The Premier League is very intense and we’ll welcome every set of three points.”
