Let's enjoy the ride
Younes says the team need to keep enjoying their football and not focus on the Club's position in the league table.
In a season where our centre-back pairing is frequently changing, there remains one constant: Younes Kaboul.
The Frenchman has played in 17 of our 19 Premier League games this season alongside Ledley King, Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Sebastien Bassong at different stages of the campaign.
The 25-year-old has witnessed many teams come to White Hart Lane aiming to frustrate us with a very defensive approach, and that was the case when we beat a determined West Brom side 1-0 on Tuesday night. Younes himself played a key role bringing the ball out from defence, giving the Baggies a different threat to consider.
“To be honest, I didn’t understand at the start of the game because West Brom were waiting for us to attack. We needed a spare man to play the ball forward and that’s what I tried to do in the first half. It was very difficult, it was an important goal from Jermain and he did well," the defender told Spurs TV Online.
“These games are very hard to play. You just have to be patient, that’s the key. We just have to keep passing the ball properly and not make any mistakes. We just had to concentrate for the whole game and score. We took three points and that’s the most important thing."
So as a mainstay of a defence that has kept seven clean sheets in the league so far this season, does Younes think he is playing the best football of his career?
“I don’t know, maybe, possibly because I’m getting older! I’ve got the confidence of the team and the manager and you can only do well in that position. Every day, I try to give my best.
“We just have to take it easy. We have to enjoy it and not think ‘we have to finish first, we can win the league’. No, we just have to enjoy every game, and hopefully we can do something special.”
