Les: Forget about reps

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand prepares to face Chelsea’s World Cup and Euro2000-winning central defensive pair admitting: “You can’t afford to worry about reputations.”

The striker comes face-to-face with Chelsea’s French duo Marcel Desailly and Frank Leboeuf at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

But Ferdinand seemed more concerned about ending our 10-year hoodoo against the Blues than meeting their world-class double act.

“You don’t think about who you are going out there and playing, you just give it your best and try to get a result,” said the 33-year-old.

“If you start worrying about reputations your mind isn’t on the game 100 per cent. You come up against world-class players every week in this league and you have to go out and perform at the best of your ability.

“Anyway, we haven’t had a result against Chelsea since we’ve been in the Premiership so it would be a nice time to put that right.”

Like his boss George Graham, Big Les reckons we should put history aside and concentrate on Saturday’s matter in hand.

He declared: “A win has been too long in coming against Chelsea and the more you talk about it, the more it’s on your mind and you get to the game a little tense.

“We’ve got to forget about the past, go out there and try to pick up three points.

“We haven’t done that away from home this season and Chelsea would be the perfect time to do that.”

As for his own form, Ferdinand added: “I’m feeling good. It’s nice to be out there day in, day out, training and back in the side, playing most weekends. All I need to do is add a couple of goals and I’ll be happy.”
