Les eyes the big prize

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand, battling to be fit for tonight's tie, says we shouldn't think about revenge against Fulham - just the prize at the end of the Worthington Cup.

We were convincingly beaten by the then-First Division outfit in the same competition two years ago, a low point after winning the trophy at Wembley just a few months earlier.

But Les insists we've moved on. "We went there in the same competition a couple of years ago and they deservedly beat us 3-1," he said.

"That was a bad night for us but we're a different side in a different shape and we're confident.

"We shouldn't go there with the attitude of trying to get revenge for last time, we should look at it as the carrot at the end of the competition, a possible route into Europe. That's what we have to look at."

Fulham defender and Les's former QPR team-mate Rufus Brevett has had plenty of nice things to say about the striker in the build-up to tonight's tie.

The feeling was mutual. "He was probably just trying to butter me up a bit!" joked Les. "I had a good spell at QPR, Rufus was in the side as well and we enjoyed some good times there.

"He's done really well at Fulham. Jon Harley came in from Chelsea and everyone thought he'd be on his way but he's come through it and is holding his place at the moment."

As for the injury, Les revealed he took a whack on the ankle in the closing stages at West Ham. "Hopefully I'll be okay," he said. "I haven't trained for a couple of days but I've done work in the gym and it's progressing well."
