Les exorcises final demons
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Les Ferdinand went some way to exorcising his Worthington Cup Final demons with the winner against Sunderland - then insisted Europe was still on via the Premiership or FA Cup.
Striker Les admitted he was 'knocked for six' after missing three golden opportunities as Blackburn Rovers took the trophy - and a place in the UEFA Cup - at Cardiff last weekend.
He also said he would continue getting into the positions that matter and he did just that to tap home Christian Ziege's pass to secure maximum points against Sunderland.
"I could have done with one of those last week!" smiled Les as he reflected on a tough week in the dressing room.
"It was difficult. Strikers go through periods like that or have games when the ball just won't go in.
"You hope it will happen in a game that doesn't have so much significance but it happened on that day.
"I was disappointed for everyone, not just myself but the supporters, the manager and the lads because there was such a carrot at the end of it.
"But that's the past. I can't do anything about it, I can't change it, I just have to look forward and try to keep progressing, scoring goals and helping the team on."
A place in Europe remains the number one target.
"What was important to start with was the three points against Sunderland," added Les. "After last week we said we still had a chance of qualifying for Europe whether it's through the league or the FA Cup.
"What we need now is to put a run of results together and this team is capable of doing it, that's the great thing.
"You don't look at it being an impossible task because we can put a run of results together. If we can do that and put a few wins on the board we'll be right up there."
