Les aims to emulate Emile
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Les Ferdinand aims to follow Emile Heskey’s lead in a bid to break out of his recent dry spell in front of goal.
Our England striker past hasn’t scored for 12 games since September 5 while in contrast England striker present Heskey has scored nine goals in his last eight games.
Ferdinand pinpoints Heskey’s case as how things can turn around for a front man.
He said: “It is frustrating, any striker will tell you. I’m feeling confident now but if I can get a goal or two the confidence will soar even higher.
“You’ve only got to look at the likes of Emile Heskey — everything is dropping into his lap at the moment yet when he went to Liverpool it took time. He’s scored a few goals and now he’s hitting them all over the place and they’re going in. It just shows you once you get that goal you can go on a bit of a run.”
It’s not for want of trying for Ferdinand. Our last home game against Sunderland was a classic example of a striker out of luck — goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen made two world-class saves to deny him.
Ferdinand added: “Years ago people used to tell me when I was going through a difficult period to hit the goalkeeper — well I’ve been hitting the goalkeeper and he’s been saving everything so that’s not working for me.
“I’ll have to devise another plan to get on in the back of the net. I’ve been pleased with the way I’ve been playing at home and I’m sure the goals will come as well if I continue to get into the positions.”
