Les aims for role reversal

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand has been reminded a few times this week of the last time he played in a Spurs v Leicester match at the Lane - he bagged a hat-trick for Spurs.

The striker is aiming for a repeat performance on Sunday but with the goals going in our net as he lines up for the Foxes in the televised Premiership clash.

Les told us this week: “Last time out I scored a hat-trick and that’s been mentioned a few times up here. It’s quite funny, hopefully it will go the other way!”

Les, now 37, enjoyed five-and-a-half years at the Lane before moving to West Ham last January.

He switched to the Walkers Stadium in the summer and has been in fine form with 10 goals to his name already.

“It's ironic that I scored against Spurs when I went to West Ham and there is always mixed feelings for me because Spurs is the team I supported as a boy, although my record against Spurs isn’t too bad.

“You have to be professional about it and everyone understands that. I’m plying my trade for Leicester and my thoughts when I arrive at the Lane on Sunday will be about getting three points back to Leicester which we desperately need, always mixed feelings in the run up to it though."

Les is one of four ex-Spurs back at the Lane with Foxes on Sunday alongside Steffen Freund, Ian Walker and Ben Thatcher.

"It will be like a Spurs reunion on Sunday, four of us all going back,” he pondered. “It’s always a strange thing going back to one of your previous clubs.

"You want to do well although it’s not a case of going back to do well against Spurs but more about getting a result for our own cause, we all know the situation we’re in and want to do well for Leicester.

"I’m looking forward to coming back. While I was at Spurs I met some lovely people and still some lovely people working there, so it will be nice to go back and see them."

And he has a feeling…"If you were a betting man, you’d probably have a quid on Steffen scoring! Will be good, good to see the lads, still keep in touch with a few of them.

“Everyone knows what Steffen’s game is all about, he’ll bring more steel and determination to the side, he is in people’s faces and makes a nuisance of himself and hopefully he’ll get a goal as well!”
