Club Ambassadors Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles were in Hong Kong recently to celebrate with our Cup shirt partners, AIA, on their third anniversary as an independent company.
The Legends took part in a series of activities alongside Tony Tillbrook and Joe Staunton, two members of our Global Coaching team.
AIA Million Dollar Round Table Day
The trip began with Ledley and Ossie heading over to Kowloon Bay for a special Q&A session in front of representatives from The Premier Association of Financial Professionals – an international, independent association of the world’s leading insurance and financial services professionals.
Kellett School visit
The pair then joined Tony and Joe at an international school for a coaching session with children aged 6-8 and a Legends Q&A for students over the age of eight. Our mascot, Chirpy, also made an appearance having been taken on a tour of Hong Kong. CLICK HERE to see the highlights of Chirpy's tour...

Ledley and Ossie then paid a visit to AIA Tower at North Point for a motivational Q&A session with a team of young, high performance financial planners who are expected to qualify for the Million Dollar Round Table within a year.
AIA Family Day
The centerpiece of the weekend was held at the AIA Building in Stubbs Road, Wan Chai, where company employees, their families and friends, were invited for a day of fun and football with Spurs coaches and legends in attendance. Over the day, more than a hundred excited children enthusiastically churned up the turf in the football clinics delivered by Tony and Joe, while Ledley and Ossie took part in autograph-signing sessions and met with staff. There were also prize draws, fun fair booths and a BBQ available for the 900 people in attendance, most of whom showed their colours by wearing their Spurs shirts!
AIA – Tottenham Hotspur Youth Football Day
The day began with a fiercely-contested match between staff from AIA Hong Kong and AIA Pension and Trustee Co Ltd. Ossie and Ledley took charge of a team each and delivered the pre-match talks, with Tony and Joe taking the warm-ups. It was then the youngsters’ turn as teenagers from The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong were given a football coaching clinic as part of AIA’s bid to promote healthy lifestyles amongst young people. Students from the Australian International School, the venue sponsor, were also given coaching, while Ledley and Ossie signed autographs for fans who had won the chance to meet them through AIA Hong Kong’s Facebook page.
Speaking about the trip, Ledley said: “It was a great trip courtesy of AIA, celebrating their third anniversary as an independent company. Ossie and I thoroughly enjoyed our time, meeting with great fans from the other side of the world and sharing our knowledge. Tony and Joe did a great job coaching the younger kids and I’m looking forward to getting the chance to visit this part of the world again.”
Ossie added: “It’s always an honour to represent the Club internationally and the trip was also a lot of fun, getting the chance to spend the time with Ledley and getting to know him. The organisation of the trip by AIA was second to none and it’s a great partnership. We spent a lot of time working with young kids through the coaching clinics and the charitable work was very valuable.”
Mark Tucker, Group Chief Executive and President, AIA Group, said: “We had a wonderful time with the Spurs team in Hong Kong. Ledley and Ossie were fantastic, incredibly generous with their time and patience, and the coaches did a really superb job running clinics for the children. On behalf of AIA, I would like to thank the team from Spurs for helping to make our IPO anniversary celebrations a great success, and also for their tremendous efforts supporting some very worthwhile initiatives in the local community during their stay.”
