Lee leaves mark on Les

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand has joined Lee Barnard's ever-growing fan club.

The experienced striker lined-up alongside the young gun for the first time in oure FA Premier Reserve League draw at Coventry City on Tuesday night.

And Les, 35, liked what he saw of the 17-year-old. "People are shouting about Wayne Rooney but if Lee continues in the way he's going at the moment, he'll be a real prospect.

"He puts himself about, has a good eye for agoal from what I've seen in training and if he can continue what he's doing at the moment I'm sure it won't be long before we see him in the Tottenham first team." Praise indeed from one of the Premiership's great goalscorers.

Lee's boss Colin Calderwood was pleased to see him hold his own against veteran defender Steve Walsh.

Colin said: "It's good to come up against a player of that experience and he played at the limit. He played it properly and played well.

"He probably didn't have the greatest night in terms of his forward play but he'll have gained a great deal."

Most first-time watchers of Lee always point out that he isn't afraid to mix it either - he certainly left his mark on Coventry's back four.

Colin added: "Lee's got an edge to his game and that's one of the things we like about him.

"There is a level and standard you can't go over and he knows that and doesn't go over it too often. He's very honest and he looks after himself."
