Leds on England blow
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King was left to rue his misfortune as another England opportunity is denied to him due to injury.
England travel to Sweden - with Anthony Gardner and Jermain Defoe in the ranks - for Wednesday's friendly international, one which would have provided Ledley with the ideal opportunity to bolster his Euro 2004 chances after his fine display against Portugal last time out.
A hamstring injury sustained against Southampton ruled Ledley out of the squad for the Sweden game, the goalscorer against the championship hosts also missed out on a possible debut when illness forced him to return home early from a friendly against Holland the season before last.
With Euro 2004 just around the corner and only three friendlies before the squad set off, this injury setback is the last thing Ledley needed.
"Definitely, it always seems to be the way with me, but I have to be sensible and the hamstring is not right at the moment," he reflected at Spurs Lodge. "I've got to rest it for this week at least and see what happens after that.
"It is obviously disappointing for me, but there are a few games left for Tottenham and hopefully I can impress in those games."
Ledley completed the 90 minutes at St Mary's as the team sought a leveller and hopes that his hamstring will have eased sufficiently in time for him to be considered for the Chelsea encounter at the weekend.
"It is something I was having trouble with earlier in the season and I think I've got a little bit of a strain in there. The best thing was to play out the game, I was disappointed, but I wanted to do what was right. I thought I could get through the game and I managed to do that, but it was a little bit sore after the game.
"I'm not sure about Saturday at the moment, I've got to rest it and have some treatment in the early stages of the week then, fingers crossed, I'll be available for selection."
