Ledley's vow

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King reflected on the defensive mishap that led to Blackburn's winner in Cardiff on Sunday and says he will come back stronger for the experience.

Ledley blames himself for Andy Cole's winner in the Worthington Cup final, he was dispossessed by Matt Jansen when trying to bring an arkward ball under control.

Our central defender, who has been magnificent all season, sat despondent at end of the game thinking back to the crucial moment.

"To be quite honest, I was thinking about my mistake - that was all that was going through my head at the end, what I could have done," said Ledley, back at Spurs Lodge preparing for the visit of Sunderland on Saturday.

"It was a big occasion for us and we thought that we were going to go and win the game, that's what we had in mind.

"We didn't play as well as we could and I was disappointed at the end with my mistake."

Ledley went on to describe the moment that led to the shaping of the match.

"It was just an arkward ball over the top and I managed to get my head to the first one, but it kind of landed in a funny position. I needed to take a touch before I could get it away to a safe position.

"He closed me down quite quick and they scored from it. I was very disappointed.

"I thought that I wouldn't be able to get enough into the second header if I just headed it away, it would have just landed on the edge of the box. So I just tried to head it down to get it down quicker and then hook it away.

"As I say, I got caught and they punished us.

"If I was in the same position again, I've got a funny feeling that I would more or less do the same thing. I was trying to do the right thing, I think I needed a touch before clearing away, but these things happen and I'm sure I come back stronger for it."

After the game Glenn commended Ledley for not letting the goal affect his play and pointed out that he deserves credit for that and his stunning progress this season that saw propelled into the England squad.

"I tried not to let it affect me and tried to help the team push on and get the equaliser. It's just a natural reaction to go all out and try your best to recover the situation.

"These things are part and parcel of the game. It's not nice when it happens to you, but I think it's about how you recover from them, you can't dwell on them too long."

Ledley finished by saying the whole Millennium experience only increases the will of the team to return for the FA Cup.

"Definitely, we've still got another chance to get to Cardiff again and we'll be going all out to do that. We've had a little taste of what it's like and we want to be back there - this time lifting the trophy."
