Ledley's revenge mission

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King has revenge on his mind for England Under-21's friendly against Spain on Tuesday night.

Our outstanding youngster, 20, is in the squad alongside team-mates Luke Young and Alton Thelwell, is expected to start the international at Birmingham City.

King has played against Spain before - and he hasn't forgotten the encounter.

He recalled: "I've played Spain once before at Under-16 level and they managed to beat us 5-1! I haven't forgotten that and I'm sure some of the lads who will be there this time won't have forgotten either.

"Playing for England is the best feeling ever. When you put on the shirt and you are singing the national anthem it is the best feeling. It is very honourable and one I look forward to again."

King first made his name playing for England Under-21s last summer. He was the pick in what was a disappointing European Championship for the youngsters but it was a bitter-sweet experience as he suffered a broken foot in the last minute of the last game.

That injury kept him out until October but he has returned in style - grabbing his chance against Liverpool in November and starting every game since.

King reflected: "It's the first time I've put a run together in the team and I'll be looking forward to going away with England and feeling very confident.

"I was picked for the tournament last summer and it was perhaps only because Gareth Barry pulled out that I got my chance. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I managed to score a goal and the tournament was very enjoyable and a good learning process.

"Obviously I picked up an injury in the last minute but that seems a long time ago now and hopefully it is all behind me. That was the last injury I've had, I've put a run together and long may it continue."
