Ledley's Knight tale

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King will come across a striker today who first caught his eye in partnership with Jermain Defoe at their Sunday morning boys club.

Brighton's Leon Knight forged a prolific pairing with Jermain at Senrab, the prolific producer of Premiership players where the likes of John Terry, Paul Konchesky and Bobby Zamora cut their footballing teeth.

Knight was close to making the grade at Chelsea where he came through the Academy ranks but departed in search of first team football. Ledley featured for a higher age-group side at Senrab but remembers well the goalscoring feats of the now 22-year-old.

"I played for the same Sunday boys club as him, but he is Jermain's age," explained the skipper. "I just remember him as a young player after coming off the pitch and staying behind to watch Leon and Jermain play - and they usually scored about five each.

"He is really similar to Jermain and was unfortunate not to come through at Chelsea. It is quite difficult for young players to make the breakthrough although he looked a really good talent and thought a move was best for him."

Meanwhile, Ledley admits that while the beginning of the FA Cup is always to be cherished, given current league form, he wouldn't have minded carrying on with that.

"It's nice, but things have been going so well in the league and, in a way, you just want to carry on.

"The cup game is coming up and we're confident because things are going well. Of course you have to be careful, but it's nice to be at home, the fans will be behind us and we are looking forward to it.
