Ledley's Cup of tea
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King is developing a taste for the big Cup ties. The strapping midfielder has played in all of our games so far and could be forgiven for viewing the Cup as a regional affair.
We have yet to leave London in Cup run 2001, but that is soon to change as the north London derby roadshow prepares to hit Manchester.
"It’s another London derby and an FA Cup semi-final — I couldn’t ask for more in my first season,” reflected Ledley. “I’m just looking forward to it."
On the de-railing of the West ham bandwagon, Ledley added: "It was unbelievable. I thought the lads battled really well and I think we deserved to win. The FA Cup games have been amazing. It’s my first season in the FA Cup and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it."
Ledley had more cause than most to take personal satisfaction from putting one over the Hammers, although he might have to watch his step in his home town for a few days.
Ledley’s home patch is Bow — deep in West Ham territory.
"It was nice on a personal level. I know quite a lot of West Hams fans in my area and it was nice to put one over on them.
"It was a vital game for us. Obviously in the league we’ve been quite mediocre but we’re doing great in the cup and feeling very confident of getting to the final.
"The players have a feel for the competition. They aren’t talking too much notice of the one in the year, we just know it’s all down to hard work and that’s what we’re putting in.
"It was a bit nerve wracking in the last few minutes but the lads were great, throwing themselves in the way of everything."
