Ledley tackles topic of knife crime at local tournament
08 September 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Our former captain Ledley King dropped in on this year’s Godwin Lawson Memorial Cup to talk to young people about tackling knife crime through sport.
The Tottenham-based football tournament was set up in memory of Godwin Lawson, an aspiring teenage player who was tragically murdered in 2010.
Now in its sixth year, the event engages local youngsters who are at risk of becoming involved in violent crime, with the hope of using football to set them on the right path.
Speaking at the event, Ledley said: “Playing football from a young age not only kept me out of trouble and gave me a focus, but it also taught me valuable life lessons, so it’s great to be able to share that with the group today.”
