Ledley on the ball
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King is delighted to be back on the ball in training, but realises the pre-season stamina work is still ahead of him.
Our outstanding central defender was been sidelined during pre-season with a hip injury sustained while out jogging during his summer break. It has been a frustrating time for the 21-year-old, but he is now out training with the squad.
"I'm pleased to say that I'm not feeling any pain in the hip and it's nice to be out there again working with the lads," he reported.
"Initially I was just out on a jog and felt a bit of pain in my hip. I felt it wasn't too bad, but it turned out to be a bit worse than I thought.
"I've had to bide my time and it seems to be getting better now. I've done quite of bit of resting now and it's time to do some work and try and get back playing."
Ledley won't put a date on a playing return, prefering to concentrate on regaining the sharpness that served him so well last season.
"At the moment I'm just trying to work hard in training and try and get some fitness and sharpness back. When I feel good I'm sure I'll be back in contention for a game somewhere, whether it's reserves or first team.
"At the moment I'm doing what the rest of the lads are doing and sometimes a little bit extra. It's good I'm able to do this."
The boss pointed out last week that the tough pre-season work was still ahead of Ledley and Alton Thelwell, despite the fact that they have returned to ball work.
"Normally by this time it's all over and done with. I've got that still to come! I know that's part of the game now and I'll need that before I start playing.
"No player wants to go into a game feeling unfit and not sharp - I'll be looking to do that work myself as well."
