Ledley on Luke

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King says he fully understands why Luke Young moved on as he prepares to lock horns with him for the first time on Saturday.

The England Under-21 defenders came through the system at Spurs at different times but earned professional contracts within a year of each other and both were handed Premiership debuts in the 1998-99 season.

Versatile Luke eventually played 76 times for us in a number of positions before moving to Charlton this summer.

Now settled in at right-back, he faces Spurs for the first time on Saturday as an ever-present so far this season.

Ledley said: "I was with Youngy for a few years, played with him in the Under-19s and he was always a good player.

"He obviously thought a move and more first team games would benefit him and it has been a good move for him.

"He wanted to play right-back and unfortunately for him Stephen Carr is at the club and he's such a great full-back.

"Consistency is his great strength. Wherever you play him you are guaranteed he will give it his all. I think he will do well at Charlton and good luck to him.

"It's funny coming up against lads I've grown up with but it's happened a few times now and I'm getting used to it."

Ledley is ready for another tough away assignment but insists we can be confident.

"They are a tough team," he added. "I think we drew 0-0 at home against them, lost away and then the FA Cup game over there which was a great game.

"It will be hard again but we go into it confident.

"Our away form has been a lot better and we don't mind if we're playing at home or away at the moment. We just look forward to the next game."
