Ledley looking good
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat adopted a no-risk policy with Ledley King on Saturday after the strapping midfielder suffered a dead leg on England under-21 duty — Ledley now hopes that Glenn Hoddle will be of a mind to unleash him on Arsenal in the all-important sequel.
"I think I should be alright, I’ve been having a bit of treatment, but I’m training," said Ledley, who admits it was a late call to omit him from the Highbury outing, but insists there was no saving himself on his part.
"I was close, I was in the squad, but it was decided in the morning that it was best to leave it for that game.
"I would have loved to have played — anyone would want to play in a London derby at Arsenal, but you could say the main priority is Sunday and I didn’t want to do any further damage to myself.
The early part of the week at Spurs Lodge was a bit like a parade of the walking wounded, but Ledley is confident that Glenn will have a greater pool of players to choose his first side from.
"There has been quite of few of us injured, but hopefully the majority of us will be back for the game.
"We had quite a young squad out on Saturday, but a few experienced players should be back and hopefully that will give us the edge.
And would ‘Leds’ like to compete for the edge in midfield with a certain Mr Vieira?
"Yeah, it would be a good tussle, I’d look forward if I get the opportunity."
