Ledley: Confidence growing
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King said that the team is growing in confidence and belief with each game as he prepared for the visit of Manchester United to the Lane today.
The fact that Ledley's confidence levels are rising is hardly a surprise, he looks to have grown enormously in stature since his England exploits of the summer and has been a huge influence in our defence that has conceded just two goals so far this season.
The 23-year-old feels a collective inner-belief that the team will not be beaten is starting to surface.
"I think we're beginning to now," reasoned the central defender. "You've got to try and feel that as a team first and foremost - if you don't concede, you don't lose. If we can get that right, Jermain, Robbie and Fredi are likely to get chances.
"If we can remain solid, as solid as we've been, we will do well."
As the longest-serving player on the books, Ledley admits that such a mentality has not always been evident on the defensive front.
"It is a bit foreign to us, but it is nice for a defender to go into games feeling good and feeling that we are going to keep clean sheets. It breeds confidence."
Ledley added that nobody in particular is calling the shots at the back, but says the communication between the players is good and a component of the solid start.
"I think everyone is. You need to communicate at the back and everyone is talking to everyone. The communication is probably the difference between now and last season and it is helping us.
"Most of the players that have come in are experienced players that are used to playing at a good level. They know you have to communicate, it is part of their game and they are good at it."
