Club Ambassador Ledley King joined the celebrations as Athlone Spurs became our 100th Official Supporters Club.
The legendary former captain joined around 250 fans from across Ireland at a special event held at Shamrock Lodge Hotel.
Ledley took part in a Q&A and autograph signing session, which was followed by a raffle with some great Spurs prizes and a live screening of the Liverpool match.
Athlone join a global network of Official Supporters Clubs, spanning an incredible 39 countries, aimed at bringing fans closer to their beloved Tottenham Hotspur no matter where they are in the world.
Just two seasons ago, our number of Official Supporters Clubs was just 29 – now Minneapolis Spurs in the USA have just become our 101st!
Ledley, as part of his Ambassadorial role, has been able to spend time engaging with fans across the world, and his visit to Athlone follows recent trips to visit Official Supporters Clubs in Sweden, Hong Kong and Baltimore.
He said: “It’s always a pleasure to meet the fans and see that the passion of Spurs supporters is the same as you’d expect, no matter where you go in the world.
“It wasn’t too far for me to come over to Ireland and visit Athlone, a beautiful place and home to what is now our 100th Official Supporters Club – an incredible milestone for us to reach.
“I hope they remain part of the Tottenham Hotspur family for many years to come and I look forward to visiting more Supporters Clubs over the coming years and welcoming plenty of new ones.”
All proceeds from the event went to the Children's Brainwave programme, a charity that works closely with Athlone Spurs.
