As he prepares for a return to action in his testimonial match the following week, Ledley King will be stepping up his training regime by taking part in the Open Training session at the Lane on Monday 5th May.
For the first time since announcing his retirement in the summer of 2012, the legendary former captain will be training alongside the first team again, gearing up to face them on Monday 12th May with his special guest XI.
Ledley has been secretly working hard behind-the-scenes at our world class training facility in Enfield, and will now step back out onto the training pitch - which was something of a rarity during his playing days due to well documented injury problems.
The current Club Ambassador said: “It’s no secret the difficulties I faced when it came to training during my playing career, and I haven’t been in the gym regularly since retiring either.
“But I have been extremely lucky that the coaching staff at the Club have allowed me to come and use the fantastic facilities at the training centre in order to get my fitness back up for the testimonial.
“The next step will be running outside again, and doing it on the pitch I have so many fond memories of playing on, in front of fans that have supported me throughout my time at the Club, will be a special moment.
“It will also be good to be amongst the lads again, as that is one of the things I miss most about playing, and it will be a good insight for the fans who attend the Open Training session on Monday.”
All proceeds from the Open Training session will be going to a cause close to Ledley’s heart, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, with whom he works on the Skills project that will be one of the charitable causes benefitting from monies raised at the testimonial match.
After the training session on Monday, Ledley will be taking part in a live interview pitchside, giving his reaction to being back in training, looking ahead to the testimonial and telling fans more about the Foundation.
Entry to the Open Training event is FREE for juniors, £3 for Adult One Hotspur Members and £5 general admission.
