Chris Hughton conceded that the overriding feeling was one of disappointment after the thrilling FA Cup draw at Chelsea on Sunday.
We led 3-1 at the break through Dimitar Berbatov, an own goal and Hossam Ghaly only for Chelsea to hit back via Frank Lampard's second goal and then Salomon Kalou’s equaliser just four minutes from time.
So close to becoming the first Premiership team to beat the Blues over 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge in almost three years, we replay at the Lane on Monday, kicking-off at 8.05pm, with the winners up against Blackburn in the semi-finals.
“Yes, the feeling is more of disappointment than being pleased with the draw because of our performance on the day,” reflected Chris.
“I thought we did enough to win the game certainly in terms of creating chances and scoring three goals but that’s the strength of Chelsea, the ability to come back like that with the quality of player they have.
“I don’t think we could have given any more and at one stage it looked like we could score that fourth goal and if we had, I think that would have been game over.
“Nevertheless, the replay is a massive prospect in front of a packed home crowd and we’re still in there.”
