Lamela thrilled with big win

Setting up two goals in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers was “the icing on the cake” for Erik Lamela.

The dynamic Argentine attacker, who got two assists as we came from a goal down to beat AEL Limassol in the Europa League last week, repeated the feat at White Hart Lane as we made it two wins from two in the Premier League.

Erik supplied the corner from which Eric Dier headed home at the near post to make it 2-0 before drifting out to the left and sending in a perfectly-weighted cross for Nacer Chadli to nod in our third.

Voted Man of the Match by fans across our social media channels and on our new-and-improved Match Centre after the game, Erik said the victory was “everything” and insisted there’s more to come.

“I am happy because the team played very well and we won,” said the 22-year-old. “It was great that we controlled the game – that was very important – and getting the three points was everything.

“The assists weren’t the whole of my game, they were just one small part of it. I didn’t score but I hope in the next games I will. I worked very hard for the team and the assists were just the icing on the cake.

“The most important thing is three points and a Spurs win.”
