Lads showed character again - Ryan

Mon 23 March 2015, 11:19|Tottenham Hotspur

Ryan Mason felt the team displayed their character again in wrestling momentum back from Leicester after the Foxes pulled us back to 2-2 in Saturday’s Premier League win at the Lane.

Harry Kane fired us into an early two-goal advantage and Christian Eriksen struck the post before the visitors clawed their way back into the game with goals either side of half-time.

Harry completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot for 3-2 on 64 minutes before Christian Eriksen forced Jeffrey Schlupp’s own goal for 4-2 with five minutes remaining.

It wasn’t all over though as David Nugent reduced arrears to 4-3 in the final minute to make for a tense three minutes of added time.

“It was important to bounce back from the disappointment of last week’s defeat at United,” said Ryan. “Leicester made it tough for us but we got the three points so we’re all happy.

“We had a chance at 2-0 when Christian hit the post and if that had gone in it might have been a different game but they got a goal back and then the momentum was with them.

“It went to 2-2 so for us to get another two goals and get back to 4-2 says a lot about the character in this team.

“It’s always difficult when momentum is going against you but we’ve done it so many times this season.

“We should have killed the game off at 2-0 but credit to Leicester, they gave it a real go. It was one of those games but we got the three points.”
