Andros Townsend says the players are 'chomping at the bit' to get into the team as we prepare to face Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup tonight (Monday, January 5, 7,45pm).
The winger was on target in our 5-3 win against Chelsea on New Year's Day and is now ready for a tough test at Turf Moor.
"The cup games have done me well this season," said Andros, whose 13 starts this season in 17 appearances includes 10 in cup matches.
"They’ve given me the chance to get 90 minutes under my belt so whoever the manager picks we know that they will give it their all and fight for the shirt and try to get us into the next round.
"We’ve got a big squad and everyone is chomping at the bit to get in the team which bodes well for the rest of the season.
"We’re not going to take anything for granted against Burnley and we know there are no easy games against Premier League sides.
"They will be a difficult side to face but we know whichever team the manager picks we’ll give 100 per cent and hopefully we can get through to the next round.
"We knew that the Christmas period was going to be difficult playing Manchester United and Chelsea in quick succession but to get four points from those two games is a fantastic return. We’ve three wins in four games in the Christmas period and we’re delighted. We go into the New Year full of confidence."
