Lads pass character test

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Darren Anderton is delighted we've shown another side to our character - the ability to scrap and dig out a result when all seemed lost.

The long-serving midfielder - in his tenth season at the Lane - insisted that the refusal to accept defeat against Arsenal and the character shown to grab an injury time equaliser was the biggest positive on show against Arsenal on Saturday.

After we'd dominated the majority of the game, especially the first half, the visitors grabbed a potentially heartbreaking lead through Robert Pires with only nine minutes left.

But we hauled ourselves up to created another three chances in a frantic last few minutes and hit gold thanks to Gue Poyet's last-second volley.

England international Darren reflected: "We probably didn't play as much football as we have done in recent weeks but in north London derbies you don't.

"We showed even then we could get a result. You have to be able to scrap as well in this league and we've proved that.

"The character of the team was a real positive. It's happened a few times to us this season when we've been the better team but teams have scored and we've had to come back.

"In a London derby, especially, we didn't want to lose to them so it was nice when Gus's goal went in."

Darren added that it would have been an injustice if we'd have come away without reward.

He explained: "In the first half we had the better of things and played quite well in patches but it's always hard in this game, isn't it?

"We had a couple of half chances and with a bit of luck we might have gone up at the break. They came out and played a little better but overall it wouldn't have been a fair result if we'd have lost.

"We kept going and really gave it our all. The lads were shattered afterwards but it's just reward to at least have got something out of the game."
