Lads 'outstanding' - Andre

Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to the players after Sunday’s hard-fought 1-0 win against Swansea.

The team dominated possession and chances – 24-4 efforts on goal in our favour tells the story – but had to wait until the 75th minute for the crucial breakthrough.

That came from Jan Vertonghen, who expertly swept home a half-volley from 12 yards after Kyle Walker swung in a free-kick from the right.

It was our fourth win in five matches in the Premier League as the players bounced back from last week’s disappointing late loss at Everton to move back up to fourth place, level on points with Chelsea in third.

“It would have been difficult to accept anything different than us winning this game,” said Andre.

“We were persistent, we kept the ball, played well and we deserved to get the win.

“The players really fought hard and kept pressing. Swansea is a difficult team to play against, but the players were outstanding from the first to the last minute.

“At half-time, we couldn’t say anything because what they were doing was perfect. It was a very satisfying win.”
