Harry Kane’s only regret coming away from Saturday’s friendly against Schalke was that we didn’t score more goals.
Emmanuel Adebayor’s first half opener was added to when Roberto Soldado’s looping header sailed into the net in the second period.
Although Kevin-Prince Boateng pulled one back for the Bundesliga side 10 minutes from time, a win for us never looked in doubt as we completed our pre-season campaign unbeaten.
Striker Harry, who was a half-time substitute, was happy with the run-out and believes the way we went about our business perhaps warranted a greater winning margin.
“We had our chances to put the game away,” he said. “But that’s all part of pre-season. We learned lessons and we played well.
“Schalke are a great side, they’re obviously a top team in Germany, and it was a tough test but that’s what you want.
“The lads looked sharp, we kept the ball well – just being more clinical is maybe all we could have asked for – and now we’re looking forward to the first Premier League game on Saturday against West Ham.”
