Lads driven to succeed
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Goal hero Michael Malcolm says our FA Youth Cup side are driven by trying to match - or even go one better - than last season's successful team.
The lads reached the semi-finals of the prestigious competition last time around before a certain Wayne Rooney put on a wonder show at the Lane to edge his Everton side through. Villa went on to win the two-legged final.
Michael's early strike in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Thursday night put Pat Holland's lads into the quarter-finals of the Under-18 competition where they will travel to either Luton Town or Middlesbrough.
The goal obviously meant a lot to Michael personally and more importantly, his team-mates.
"It feels great because I haven't scored for a little while now, it's my first goal in the FA Youth Cup and we're through, so I'm pleased," said the 17-year-old.
"It means a lot to us because the age group before us went to the semi-finals last season so we want to match that and perhaps even go one step further. That drives us on.
"This competition also gives us the chance to impress the staff as well and show everyone what we can do on the bigger stage."
Only 10 minutes had passed in a competitive encounter at Selhurst Park when Michael pounced on Mark Yeates' pass and slid home what turned out to be the only goal of the game.
"I thought we did well in the first 10 minutes," he reflected. "I was put through and as I turned, I realised the keeper had come out and I was one-on-one and I just slid it past him.
"That calmed us down a lot. The defence were excellent, the back three were superb and Danny Foster was man-of-the-match for me."
Michael also admitted that scoring lifted a weight off his shoulders. "It's been a while coming and after I scored I felt so relaxed on the ball and started keeping it simple," he added. "Before that goal, I'd been trying rush things. I just want to keep on scoring now. "
