Lads determined - Daws
Michael Dawson says the players are determined to kick-start another unbeaten run when we return to Premier League action at Swansea on Saturday.
Thirteen members of the squad flew out to all corners of the globe on international duty last week. The squad returned to the Training Centre today (Wednesday) and will be back in full on Thursday to begin preparations for the trip to the Liberty Stadium.
Those players departed after a home loss against Fulham last time out, a blow after a tough week against Liverpool and Inter Milan.
Nevertheless, we remain fourth in the Premier League and Michael echoed the views of Hugo Lloris, who left the Lane for the international break with the belief that the players would return ‘with great spirit for the rest of the season’.
“Everyone was disappointed with the result against Fulham but that’s behind us now and we have to push on again,” said Michael, who was forced off at half-time against Fulham through injury and out of the England squad.
“We showed exactly what we’re capable of when we went on that unbeaten run (12 matches in the PL) and we’ve got to look to do something similar between now and the end of the season. We know it will be tough, but the determination is there.”
It all starts again at Swansea in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday.
The Swans are enjoying another fine season and sit ninth in the Premier League, having already lifted the Capital One Cup at Wembley in February and therefore booking a place in Europe next season.
“Swansea have impressed everyone again,” said Michael. “They play good football and the Liberty is always a tough place to play, but we have to go there and bring back a positive result.”
