Lads after final shot

Our Under-18s step into the unknown at Sunderland tonight (Wednesday, May 13) - determined to line-up a final shot against Arsenal.

Our Under-18s step into the unknown at Sunderland tonight (Wednesday, May 13) - determined to line-up a final shot against Arsenal.

They travel to the Stadium of Light in the semi-finals of the Premier Academy League play-offs. Kick-off is 7pm.

The play-offs are between the four group winners if the PAL.

Arsenal have already beaten Manchester City to book their place in the final against the winners of tonight's tie.

Alex Inglethorpe's squad lost just twice in 28 games to clinch Group B of the PAL but face a Sunderland side that won 22 of their 28 games to win Group D by over 20 points.

"Everyone is looking forward to this one," reported Alex on Wednesday morning. "But we know we're up againsta very good team.

"We've not played them for a long time, we've an idea of what they are about but it will be a case again of sticking to our style and trying to impose our game.

"Arsenal is the incentive. We would love to have another opportunity to prove themselves against the team recognised as the best this season.

"But we all know we've a big test at Sunderland before we can even think of that."

The Gunners beat us in a memorable FA Youth Cup game in front of 20,000 fans at the Lane back in March.

Like Sunderland, they also won 22 of their 28 league games in winning their PAL group by 25 points - we drew 2-2 in the PAL after being 2-0 up.

After beating us in March, Arsenal went on to reach the FAYC Final against Liverpool which is played on May 22 and 26.
