Ladies topple Arsenal XI
16 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies beat an Arsenal XI team 3-1 on Thursday night.
The team made it five wins in six matches in pre-season with Bianca Baptiste netting twice and Andra Marcoci once at Queensland School, Potters Bar.
Manager, Karen Hills, reported: "Arsenal had a young side out who moved the ball well but we were disciplined throughout and restricted them to shots from distance.
"We opened the scoring on 55 minutes when Bianca drove into the box from the right and her cross-shot flew into the far corner.
"The second goal came from Bianca 10 minutes later this time a low, hard shot from six yards.
"Arsenal scored a wonder goal to make it 2-1 but we hit back straight away with the best move of the game. Robin McEvoy picked up the ball on the right and hit a fantastic pass to Wendy Martin, she controlled well and found Andra and she calmly slotted home.
"It was another excellent game for our pre-season campaign. Arsenal played with a young squad and they played some fantastic football, but we defended well as a team and worked hard to stop them creating clear-cut chances.
"But the way we then scored our goals is very encouraging for everyone."
The ladies travel to Millwall for their next friendly on Sunday.
