Spurs Ladies are the South-East Combination champions!

They clinched the title with two games to spare with a 3-1 win against Cambridge Women on Sunday.

It means the team are promoted to the Southern Division of the FA Women's Premier League.

Manager Karen Hills said: "I'm very proud of the whole squad and hope they all enjoy being champions of the league.

"The girls have all worked really hard to improve their fitness levels and it's paid off.

"Preparations have already started for next season but in the meantime, I'd like to say well done to the ladies and enjoy it!"

The ladies are chasing a double with the semi-final of the League Cup to follow against Luton Town on April 24.

Spurs Ladies 3-1 Cambridge Women

Needing a win to secure the title, the ladies started brightly and crucially took an early lead when Kirsten Thompson turned her marker and hit the top corner.

Spurs continued to press the play and Cambridge were restricted to long shots at goal.

Sam Pittuck made it 2-0 before the break, striding through and finishing with confidence.

Cambridge fought back in the second half and they capitalised on a defensive mistake that resulted in a penalty, converted for 2-1.

The visitors were on top and Spurs had to thank Bethany Ives for a fine save to maintain their lead.

Finally, the game and title was clinched when Kirsten Thompson finished calmly from just inside the box for 3-1.

Karen added: "We dominated the first half but then the pressure seemed to get to us.

"Cambridge gave it a real go in the second half and caused us problems, but we managed to score the third and that sealed it."
