Ladies aim for final

11 February 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs Ladies aim to make it a club double by reaching a cup final on Thursday night.

They take on fellow FA Women's Premier League South side Gillingham in the semi-finals of the Ryman Women's Cup at Ware FC, kick-off 7.45pm. Charlton await in the final after beating Carshalton 6-1.

Spurs have been out of action since a fine Women's FA Cup win against Preston North End on February 1 but go into the semi-final in fine form with six wins in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Sunday's home match in the FAWPL against Keynsham was postponed while Gillingham picked up a good win at Lewes.

"That will have given them a boost of confidence and a lot will come down to who wants it most on the night," said manager Karen Hills.

"We know Gillingham well having played them in November. We won 4-2 that day after starting superbly and going 3-0 up at half-time. We flew out of the traps that day and I'm sure Gillingham will be prepared this time around.

"They have quality players, experienced players and game-changers in their team but we're playing well, we're confident and we know what to expect. Both teams will be determined to reach the final.

"We've trained well, we're fully fit and the girls can't wait for this one."

Spurs might have been out of action at the weekend but winger Avilla Bergin was on international duty and played 90 minutes for Northern Ireland in a friendly against Scotland.
