Kyle back on cup trail
Kyle Naughton has already experienced ups and downs in the FA Cup in his short career.
The full-back has started four of our last five matches in the Premier League and it set to feature again as Coventry City travel to the Lane in the third round on Saturday.
Kyle made one of only three appearances in his first season at the club as a late substitute in our 4-0 win against Peterborough United in January, 2010.
His only career goal came in his first FA Cup tie, scoring in a 4-1 win for Sheffield United at Leyton Orient a year earlier.
The Blades reached the fifth round stage in that 2008-09 season, where they were knocked out in a replay by Hull City in a game in which Kyle unfortunately scored an own goal.
That was the furthest he has ever gone in the competition, but hopes all that will change this season.
"The FA Cup is such an exciting competition and even as a kid, I can remember the third round was always one of the best weekends of the season," said Kyle. "It’s no different now as a player.
"We know it’s going to be a tough one against Coventry, but the lads will be up for it. We’ve been in such good form lately that we just want to keep that going, regardless of who we are playing and which players are in the side.
"Coventry will want to put on a good performance in front of their big travelling support. But we’ve got a fantastic tradition in the FA Cup and I’d love to have a great cup run this season. It’s a competition we’ve not won for a while now so we want to do well."
Look out for a full interview with Kyle in Saturday's official matchday programme.
