KING-SIZE CHANCES FOR LEDS

Sven Goran Eriksson has hinted that Ledley King will be handed a starting place in England's World Cup qualifier against Poland on Wednesday night.

Sven Goran Eriksson has hinted that Ledley King will be handed a starting place in England's World Cup qualifier against Poland on Wednesday night.

All the talk has been of Spurs skipper and central defender Ledley taking a role in midfield for the final qualifying match in Group Six with David Beckham suspended and Steven Gerrard injured.

Ledley adopted that role as a substitute against Austria on Saturday and now looks set to get the starting slot.

"We have to have another central midfielder and of course Ledley King is a big choice there, I think he came on well on Saturday," said boss Sven.

On outside right we have to play another player, and the most natural is possibly Shaun Wright-Phillips

"That is what we have thought about, but we will work on the pitch today and then we will see. Michael Owen will be captain.

"It's important to play well tomorrow, as we have not done that in the first three games this season. It was a big step to win on Saturday and we need to play better tomorrow.

"I know we have only five games before the World Cup starts, and so every match is important for us."
