Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Simon Davies is delighted to be able to pay tribute to his 'minder' on Thursday night.
Our young Welsh star will take his place in Steve Castle's Testimonial as we travel to Leyton Orient for our third pre-season friendly.
The pair were together in Peterborough United's midfield for the majority of Simon's time at London Road after he kicked-off his career as a raw 17-year-old in Division Three.
And while Simon and team-mate Matthew Etherington moved to the Lane in January 2000, Castle helped lead Barry Fry's men to a memorable Wembley triumph and promotion to Division Two at the end of that season.
Castle then returned for his third spell at Brisbane Road and the East Londonders will honour his contribution - over 250 games in all competitions - with Thursday's testimonial.
"Steve came to the club when I was a 17-year-old in the side," recalled Simon. "I played just about all my games with him in midfield before I moved to Spurs.
"I suppose you could say I saw him as my minder in there. It's a tough division with a lot of bruises but Steve is a hard man and I always felt protected in there.
"It was great to see Steve and Posh get that win at Wembley. Myself and Matthew watched from the stands. It was fantastic for the club.
"Steve thoroughly deserves this testimonial. He is well worth it. I'll certainly always be grateful for what he did for me. I got on well with him, always saw him as a friend and I hope it all goes well for him."
