Kieran thriving as part of young squad

11 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Kieran Trippier is feeding off the positive vibes around our young squad as we continue to make progress on the pitch.

Thursday night’s 4-1 victory over Monaco at White Hart Lane represented our third win on the bounce in the Europa League as we stormed into the knockout stages in convincing fashion, while we’re 14 games unbeaten in the Premier League going into Sunday’s clash with Newcastle United.

Right-back Kieran, capped by England at Under-21 level earlier in his career, enjoyed another solid outing against the Ligue 1 giants on Thursday as he kept up his record of starting every one of our games in the cup competitions so far this term.

Ahead of our return to domestic duties against the Magpies this weekend, the 25-year-old has highlighted how the squad is thriving under the tutelage of Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino.

And he says he’s loving the chance to work as part of a burgeoning group which has seen a number of young players go on to make their senior England debuts in recent times.

“Obviously the lads are doing really well, we’ve not been beaten in the league since the opening game and the belief and spirit is sky high,” said Kieran, who made his Premier League debut for us as a second half substitute for the otherwise ever-present Kyle Walker in the 5-1 win at Bournemouth back in October.

“You just have to look at the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane and Ryan Mason. They’re all young English players and it’s great for them to get England call-ups and for Dele to have got his goal – I was watching when he scored – so to be able to play and train with them is brilliant.

“The fitness levels of all the lads here is phenomenal as well – they can run all day like machines! We’ve got quality all over the squad and that only benefits you as an individual and helps you to progress.”
