Kevin confident ahead of Liverpool trip

01 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

“It’s time to change our fortunes at Anfield” – that’s the message from Kevin Wimmer ahead of our latest trip to Liverpool on Saturday.

Our last three visits to the home of the Reds have ended in defeat with a combined total of 10 goals conceded.

However, buoyed by our fine form this season – and in particular our excellent display against Bournemouth last time out – defender Kevin says the players will go to Anfield in confident mood and believing that they can come away with a positive result.

“I think we’ve shown recently, especially in the home game against Bournemouth, that we’re playing good football,” said the 23-year-old, who earned his third cap for Austria against Albania during the international break.

“Obviously it was a very good win for us in our last match – we’ve had two weeks now since that game and we want to try to put on a good performance to win this weekend. We know it’s going to be very hard, it’s never easy away at Liverpool, but we are a very good team this year and on a good day we can beat anybody so, for sure, we will try our best to get those three points.

“In the last few years, Tottenham haven’t got too many points at Anfield so it’s time to change that – it’s certainly a good moment to go and get the three points there this weekend.”

Currently enjoying his first season in English football following his transfer from German side 1. FC Köln last summer, Kevin says he’s looking forward to the challenge of playing at another world-renowned stadium on Saturday.

“Anfield is very famous – in Germany and Austria, everybody knows about it,” he added. “It’s a big stadium, the atmosphere is meant to be very special there and I’m really looking forward to this game – hopefully we can get those three points and it will be even better!”
