Kelly on USA watch
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The USA football team has a new fan at Spurs - our promising young goalkeeper Gavin Kelly.
The 20-year-old has been on the bench for our last two games with Kasey Keller on international duty with America in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
So far Kasey, the USA captain, has led his side to the semi-finals of the tournament held in Miami and Pasadena and they now take on Canada on Wednesday.
That means Gavin will gain more Premiership experience on the bench against Newcastle United on Wednesday - and he's loving it!
Gavin, still only 20, beamed: "It's been a great experience in the last few games especially against Chelsea, to be on the bench for that was fantastic.
"You get the whole feel of what a matchday is like with the first team in the Premiership.
"It's brilliant to be there, watch the crowd arriving, warm-up in front of them, helping out in the dressing room, it's all great experience and I want to stay involved here as long as possible and keep that experience going.
"It's nice the club has showed some confidence in me rather than going for someone on loan. I'm delighted to be in the position I'm in and intend to stay there for as long as I can."
Gavin understands why Glenn Hoddle would bring another, more experienced goalkeeper in on loan if the same situation arises but knows he's done his own chances no harm.
He added: "Managers want experience and that is fair enough because it is a very hard position to play in.
"It's nice, at 20, to be on the bench because I'm gaining that experience earlier than a lot of players would.
"Kasey will be back soon and I don't expect to stay on the bench while Kasey's here but hopefully what I've done since I've been in there, in training, I'll have put myself in the gaffer's mind.
"Maybe next time he won't think about getting someone on loan if the same situation arrives again."
